Scores use the printed letter values on each tile. Double-letter, triple-word, and similar board premiums are not counted here. Blank tiles (? or *) count as zero.
Use this when you want a quick compare between two candidate words before you think about board premiums. For premium planning, sketch the board separately.
Worked Example
Type QUIZ on the Scrabble US chart. You should see a high face total driven by Q and Z. Then try QUIZ with a blank represented as ? for the Q: the blank scores zero, so the total drops even though the spelling looks the same.
After you pick a word, open the dictionary entry from the main solver if you are unsure it is real in your lexicon.
